Location: Houston/Galleria
Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000 per year - commensurate with experience and qualifications
Position Type: Full-Time
Office based 5 days a week
Reports to Management
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role in the freight forwarding industry.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Accounting Supervisor to join our finance team in the freight and logistics sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and transportation industry practices. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, provide leadership to junior accounting staff, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervise Accounting Operations: Lead a team of accountants to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies. Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with management to develop budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses. Monitor departmental expenses and provide recommendations to stay within budget.
Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash management functions, including cash flow forecasting and daily cash reconciliation, to ensure the company maintains liquidity and meets financial obligations.
Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and audit standards.
Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff, ensuring professional development and maintaining a positive, productive team environment.
Month-End & Year-End Close: Coordinate and lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation.
System Improvement: Evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting systems, processes, and procedures to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve accuracy.
Ad-hoc Reporting & Analysis: Prepare detailed financial analyses, ad-hoc reports, and assist in other financial tasks as required by senior management.

Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent certification is a plus).

Experience:
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Previous experience in the freight, logistics, or transportation industry is strongly preferred.
Proven experience in managing general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end close processes.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar platforms).
Strong knowledge of Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling).
Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
